It is officially official! So far this week (and it's only WEDNESDAY) the check I sent to Newlife went through and my flights were put on the credit card! I have to say it is so great to have such support from my parents, without whom I wouldn't be able to make the trip to the Philippines this summer! A HUGE THANK YOU mom and dad for supporting me in all that I do! Now let's hope that my passport comes in the mail this week too, because that would be ICING ON THE CAKE!
It's crazy how close this dream is getting. It feels like only minutes ago that I was only considering applying for the internship and now I feel it is only a few hours away. Don't worry everyone, I'm not departing TOMORROW (I have so much to do this semester that if it were tomorrow, I would probably cry).
That leads into what is going on presently: my classes are underway, so far I don't feel terribly overwhelmed. Feeling not terribly overwhelmed, I have taken some time to work on crocheting a blanket (my first), setting up some activities for my floor, and free reading! I have missed free reading so much since starting college that I am definitely taking advantage of the {little} time I have now and LOVING every minute of it! I have begun to study for the NCLEX, just a little every week, but enough to review what I have already learned. It is certainly a good feeling when someone asks me a question I can answer because of classes you I have taken.
My clinicals this semester are kind of crazy: ICU, Telemetry, a general medical floor, and some Peds work. This week, I get to go to Kindergarten to talk about dental health with a few other girls in my class. Spending time in the library picking out books and considering how to teach a 5 year old, really made me appreciate my friends in the Education Major. You ladies and gents do truly great work and deserve mad props! I'm sure I will have more to say on the topic after Thursday, eh?
Well I am off to study and {maybe} get some zzz's in with some dreams!
Dreaming big and sending love,
Casey
Update: my passport came the following week on Tuesday, within a week of my initial post! All that's left is to apply for my visa!
