I have been thinking and reflecting A LOT about my entire experience in the Phils, where God is directing me, and what is coming up this year- SENIOR YEAR! The long and the short of it is that God has shown me so much love, compassion, and support that I face this year with less anxiety than I thought I would.
At face value, senior year sounds pretty terrifying, right? Finding a college as a high school senior was pretty low key compared to taking and passing boards and choosing anything from gradschol vs. workforce, where to live, etc. Yikes! I might just freak myself out if I keep going. I would like to look my senior year of undergrad in the face and say- let's do this! I only have this one chance so I might as well enjoy myself and soak up everything I can, right?
I am so very excited to enter into this year's classes (nursing and otherwise), challenges, new batch of residents (serving my third year as Nursing Living Learning Community Resident Assistant), and to getting closer to the next leg of my journey here on this great planet earth. That being said, I am scared of all of the above as well! What if I can't hack it? What if everything blows up in my face? Here's the thing, I need to keep relying on what I know is true:
- I have the support of so many people- family, friends, professors, staff members, fellow classmates for those not so sunny days.
- God is going to provide for me. He did an OUTSTANDING job placing me at Mount Mercy so much that I have been able to grow spiritually, personally, professionally, intellectually, and even stumble into those things at the least expected times. Many of you might not know but Mount Mercy wasn't my first pick of school. I truly believe that it was a God thing that brought me to the Hill that I call home. Not only did He bring me here, He has placed so many wonderful caring people in my life! He has timed things so perfectly and reveled himself to me in others; times of silence, happiness, sadness, joy, frustration, and so much more to carry me to this place now. Without His hand I would and could not be where I am today. So I know that He is going to place me where He means for me to be after graduation. He's pretty good like that!
- Tomorrow is going to come. Today is today and it is not going to come back so I have to live in it and do the best I can to follow my heart, God's call, and serve others.
- Whenever I need something to ground me, I just need to look up.
- Failure happens. It's normal and a natural process of life. I just pray that I can be open to the challenges that arise when something doesn't go my way. God please help me to see the hiccups of life as opportunities to grow. Help me to carry the life lessons I have learned with me to shape who I am becoming.
- Sometimes it is okay to cry. Sometimes it is okay to laugh. Laughter and hugs are a MUST!
SENIOR YEAR IS WAITING!
Dreamin' some crazy big dreams,
Casey
